Twentieth Century Fox been the successful bidder in an auction to get the rights to "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", a live-action adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's novel of the same title. Other studios which bid for it included Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures , Universal Pictures and Summit Entertainment.
Variety reports that pre-production for the movie is already underway with Fox planning to release it in 2012. The studio reportedly has allocated a big budget of $69 million and is planned to be a 3-D movie.
Timur Bekmambetov is to direct the thriller and produce it alongside Tim Burton and Jim Lemley. Seth Grahame-Smith has been hired to adapt his book into a screenplay.
