VENUS TRANSIT 2012

The rare celestial occurrence of the Venus passing in front of the sun occurred last week.

Due to the sun’s intensity and advice not to stare directly at the sun for a peek not many people saw the transit first hand. Luckily, NASA provided an online stream of the 6 hour, 40 minute showcase.

This particular transit won’t appear again for another 105 years. Taking a look at photos of Venus’ transit can see the sheer enormity of the sun related to Earth that is very close to the size of Venus.
